Brazilian midfielder Diego could get his move away from Wolfsburg to Atletico Madrid.
Diego has fallen out with Wolves boss Felix Magath and has no future at the Volkswagen Arena; both parties agreed that it would be best to separate over a month ago.
But concrete interest in the talented Brazilian has been limited, despite a number of clubs investigating the possibility of signing the former Juventus man.
Now though there could be something more tangible from La Liga outfit Atletico, who want to boost fan morale with a big name signing following the sale of Sergio Aguero to Manchester City.
And Diego is keen to make the switch according to his father.
"We are hoping that Wolfsburg and Atletico Madrid will find an agreement", Djair Ribas Da Cunha told Spanish daily AS.
"He really wants to sign for the Spanish club."
