Arsenal have indicated to Birmingham City that they would be prepared to pay £10M for defender Scott Dann.
Blues’ defender Dann has jumped to the top of Arsene Wenger’s list after interest in Bolton Wanderers man Gary Cahill cooled, but the Gunners will still have to make good on their £10M offer to take the 24-year-old to the Emirates.
Wenger could face opposition for the defender’s signature however, with Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish also keen on the Birmingham man.
Dalglish has watched in despair as his side have leaked goals at an alarming rate in pre-season and, should this continue into the Premier League proper, will act to bring in another centre back.
And Dann is at the top of Dalglish’s list.
The involvement of Liverpool could complicate matters for Wenger, with Dann known to fancy a switch to Anfield.
But should Liverpool hold off a bid, Arsenal would have a free run at the 24-year-old and Dann surely could not turn down a move to the Emirates.
