Diego Maradona has expressed his excitement at returning to coaching with Dubai club Al Wasl after landing in the Middle East.

The 50-year-old legend has been out of the game since parting ways with Argentina after the 2010 World Cup and is keen to improve his coaching methods.

After a 20-hour flight to Dubai, Maradona claimed to have been working on a number of different training strategies and being excited to put them into practice.

"I am more than excited to be back and I am anxious to start working with the team", commented Maradona.

"I have been constantly thinking of different training methods and new strategies while I was away, even while I was on the plane.

"There are new ideas formulating in my head and I can’t wait to start implementing them on the group."

The Al Wasl job could be a crucial point in Maradona’s coaching career as success in the Middle East may catapult him into the frame for more prestigious positions.
