South Korean striker Park Chu-Young has refused the opportunity to join Rennes.

The striker, who has indicated a preference for heading to join Liverpool if the Reds firm up their interest, is all set to leave Monaco after their relegation to Ligue 2.

But unless Park has a dramatic change of heart, his destination will not be Ligue 1 side Rennes.

The Breton club had offered €5.5M to Monaco for the 26-year-old and this amount was acceptable for the principality side – for Park though, a switch to Rennes was not appealing.

"He does not come", was all that Rennes’ sporting director Pierre Derossi had to say on the matter, with the Ligue 1 side’s move looking dead in the water.

Park has notably been linked with Liverpool, with Reds’ director of football Damien Comolli believed to be a big fan of the South Korea captain.

A concrete bid from Anfield has yet to arrive though, with Liverpool thought keen to offload David N’Gog before launching a swoop.

Park cannot be expected to wait forever though and Bordeaux, Lille and Schalke are all pondering making a move for the striker. Any one of the trio would be an attractive destination for the former FC Seoul man.
