French side Lorient are entering the chase for Arsenal forward Carlos Vela, hopeful their good relationship with Arsene Wenger will seal the deal.

The Mexican had hoped to stay at the Emirates this season and fight for a first team spot, but his chances of minutes on the pitch look limited and Vela could well find himself loaned out once again.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom and already Real Zaragoza, Galatasaray and most recently Real Sociedad, have enquired about taking the Arsenal man for the 2011/12 campaign.

Now Ligue 1 side Lorient hope that the Gunners will agree to send Vela to France for the season.

Lorient enjoy a good relationship with Arsenal boss Wenger, having sold defender Laurent Koscielny to the English side last summer.

More recently too Lorient acted on the advice of Wenger to give ex-Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere a platform to relaunch his career.

It remains to be seen whether Wenger will finally consent to Vela’s loan, but should the Frenchman do so, Lorient will be in a strong position.
