Marseille Sporting Director Jose Anigo has warned Arsenal that talented young midfielder Andre Ayew will not be leaving the Stade Velodrome, but left the door open for Mathieu Valbuena.
In recent days Ayew has emerged as a target for the English Premier League giants, who are looking to replace Cesc Fabregas, while Samir Nasri is also expected to exit the Emirates before the transfer window slams shut.
Marseille though are not willing to play ball and have adopted a hardline stance over the 20-year-old.
Asked by French radio station RMC about Arsenal’s interest in Ayew, Anigo was very clear and pointed out that the midfielder’s window to leave the club through a €13M buyout clause, has passed.
"Ayew has a long way to go with us. His contract contained a clause, however that has already expired, so we are convinced that he will remain here."
Switching to Valbuena however, Anigo adopted a different tone, conceding that, should the Gunners come in for the midfielder, then there was a chance he could go.
"For us he is a key player", admitted the Marseille chief, "but if you ask him about a big club, we would give him the opportunity to choose.
"And if he wants to leave, we would be content."
