After just six months in Italy, Spanish defender Victor Ruiz has headed back to La Liga, signing up at Valencia.

The 22-year-old only joined Napoli in the winter transfer window at the start of the year, but failed to make much of an impression with the southern Italian club.

And Napoli, who had paid €6M for Ruiz and put him on a four and a half year contract, have decided to allow the defender to head to Los Che.

Valencia have been on the lookout for a defensive recruit and were linked with a move for old boy Raul Albiol.

However, taking their former defender from Real Madrid always looked a difficult venture and Ruiz has proven a far more realistic move.

Valencia have paid €8M for Ruiz and the player has signed a four-year contract at the Mestalla.
