Sources in Norway have confirmed that Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Norwegian international striker Mohammed Abdellaoue.
The 25-year-old currently turns out for Bundesliga outfit Hannover 96, but has attracted the attention of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
Wenger was forced to conduct his summer transfer business at the last minute, racing round frantically to snap up the likes of Andre Santos, Per Mertesacker, Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun on deadline day.
And the Frenchman is determined that Arsenal’s forays into the winter transfer market will be more carefully planned, with targets lined up well in advance.
Abdellaoue is under consideration to become one of those targets and the Gunners will pay close attention to his exploits in the German top flight over the next few months, after ten goals in the Bundesliga last season and three so far in the current campaign.
At international level the 25-year-old has also made his mark, picking up 16 caps and finding the back of the net five times, the latest being the winning goal in Norway’s 1-0 victory over Iceland on Friday.
Hannover would be looking to realise a substantial profit for a player they paid Valerenga €1.4M for last summer, with at minimum of €5M needed to tempt the Germans into a sale.
