English Premier League duo Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have joined Roma in tracking Sao Paulo’s exciting attacking midfielder Lucas.
The 19-year-old has shone at the Tricolor Paulista and also made a splash with Brazil’s Under-20 side before breaking through into the senior team under Mano Menezes earlier this year – Lucas made his Selecao debut against Scotland in a friendly in March.
Consistently progressing, it comes as little surprise that some of Europe’s biggest clubs are tracking the schemer closely.
According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, a three-way transfer battle between Liverpool, Tottenham and Roma is expected to erupt sooner rather than later.
Sao Paulo will be looking to realise a substantial fee for the 19-year-old when he leaves the Estadio do Morumbi.
Lucas is under contract with Sao Paulo until 2015 and, while having an release clause of some €80M, would likely be sold for closer to the €25M mark.
The midfielder has made 17 appearances in the current Brasileiro, finding the back of the net seven times.
