Bologna’s highly-rated midfielder Gaston Ramirez has played down talk that he is leaving the Rossoblu, with English Premier League giants Liverpool thought to be leading the chase.
Sources indicated within the last month that Liverpool have been tracking the 20-year-old Uruguayan and could make a concrete bid in the January transfer window, while Bologna’s officials did admit that a move to Anfield could be on the cards.
Ramirez though is unconvinced, insisting that in the summer he did not hear anything to suggest that either Liverpool, or any one of a number of other sides linked – the likes of Inter, Napoli, Udinese, Genoa, Lazio and Fiorentina have all been mentioned as admirers – are really keen to snap him up.
"This summer there was talk of many things that are not true; there are just journalists who invented things", said the Uruguayan.
"I have never spoken and if I did it would have fed what they said."
And Ramirez insisted he is content to remain with Bologna.
"I want to be here in Bologna.
"I’m fine and they are nice to me."
