Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he will try again to sign Lyon playmaker Yoann Gourcuff.

The 25-year-old is currently sidelined through injury and new Lyon coach Remi Garde, who used to play under Wenger at the Gunners, has had to shape his side without the former AC Milan man.

Gourcuff, who cost Lyon a hefty €22M to sign from Bordeaux, has long interested Wenger, who admires his talent and technique – the France international was regularly compared to Zinedine Zidane earlier in his career.

The Gunners’ Gallic boss readily admits that such is the midfielder’s ability that it would be impossible to overlook the opportunity to sign him in future, having already attempted to do so in the past.

"When a player has so much talent, it is not possible not to return", Wenger told Telefoot.

"It is always tempting for a coach."

Wenger will face a tough battle to sign Gourcuff whenever he decides to try again though, with Lyon’s decision to sell Bosnian schemer Miralem Pjanic to Roma in the summer making their desire to keep the 25-year-old even fiercer.
