Chelsea are believed to be weighing up a swoop for Lazio defender Stefan Radu after the player’s agent confirmed the Romanian is being tracked by some of the biggest clubs in the game.
Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has noted Radu’s progression since he joined Lazio from Dinamo Bucharest in 2008, rocketing to become one of the most sought-after players in Europe after a series of fine displays in Serie A.
Lazio remain keen to keep hold of Radu and signed the 24-year-old to a new five-year contract in the summer. This however has not quashed rumours of an exit.
And Radu’s agent Victor Becali has only added to the transfer speculation by announcing that if an interesting proposal arrives, he will discuss it with the Romania international.
"If something interest us in the coming months then we’ll talk about it", Becali told Radio Mana Mana.
"Stefan has renewed his contract, but in football you can’t take anything as being certain."
Becali also admits that he knows some of the biggest clubs in the game are tracking his client, but insists he has not spoken with interested parties as yet.
"I have read that big clubs in England, Spain and France are interested, but at the moment I have not spoken to anyone about it."
Should Radu decide the time as come to leave Lazio, Chelsea look set to face serious opposition for the defender, with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also confirmed fans of the Romanian.
