Manchester United will have to offer more than €10M to tempt Villarreal into selling midfielder Bruno Soriano.
The Red Devils hold an interest in the tough-tackling 27-year-old and were reported as having let the Yellow Submarines know that they would pay €10M for the midfielder in January last month.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson appears to have waited too long to approach Villarreal and this has seen the player’s asking price shoot up.
Villarreal would have had to part company with Soriano for €10M over the summer, when pressure to balance the books existed at the club.
That monetary concern was eliminated though with the sale of Santi Cazorla to Malaga, a deal which netted the Yellow Submarine €21M.
Now president Fernando Roig has, according to Valencia-based daily Super Deporte, let it be known that Manchester United must do better than €10M if they wish to take Soriano to Old Trafford.
Barcelona are also believed to be keeping tabs on the midfielder’s situation, but remain some way off turning that passing interest into a concrete bid.
