Tottenham Hotspur are pondering raiding the Camp Nou for two of Barcelona’s most promising young talents.

Harry Redknapp’s Premier League outfit have been keeping close tabs on Blaugrana right back Martin Montoya and centre back Marc Bartra.

Spurs watched with interest as Blackburn Rovers snaffled up a talent from Barcelona’s B team in the shape of Ruben Rochina in the summer, a player who has already looked well at home in England’s top flight, and would like to follow the Ewood Park side’s example.

Barcelona are not keen on parting with any of their rising stars, not least Montoya and Bartra, but the club’s up and coming youngsters are well aware of the stiff task that awaits them in breaking into Josep Guardiola’s side.

Montoya’s contract expires at the end of the current season and while his agent has stated that Barcelona’s offer of an extension will be listened to, the 20-year-old already has a queue of admirers. Fans of Montoya include Bayern Munich, Roma, Malaga and Valencia.

Spurs then would face a fight even if the young Spaniard, who has already been called up to the senior Spain squad, opted to depart the Camp Nou.

Bartra, like Montoya, is another starlet who has begun to forge a spot for himself amongst Barcelona’s first team, and clocked up two La Liga and two Copa del Rey appearances last season.

Spurs would hope that both Montoya and Bartra would see more opportunities for progression at White Hart Lane than at the European Champions.
