Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath has told the club’s fans that it will take him three years to transform the team into Bundesliga title winners.
Magath led the Wolves to the Bundesliga title in the 2008/09 campaign and is hoping to repeat the trick after saving the side from relegation last term.
But the 58-year-old has warned that it will take him a little longer this time.
"The team in 2009, that won the title, took two seasons to build", said Magath.
"Since my return, I noticed that the current situation at the club is somewhat complicated, so I’ll give us an extra year."
And Magath confirmed that the aim this season is to grab a Champions League spot.
"At present we continue to climb the table.
"The aim is to play in the Champions League. If this happens we could see the team in the semi-final, or even more."
