Greek giants Olympiacos have made their move for Chelsea forward Gael Kakuta.

The 20-year-old has been expected to move on loan to Ligue 1 side Dijon for the second half of the season, with the French club’s coach Patrice Carteron sounding bullish over the deal.

Carteron even commented that Andre Villas-Boas has given the green light to the move, while also admitting that he knows Olympiacos are sniffing around the former Lens youth teamer.

And now the Athens club have made an official approach for Kakuta.

Spanish coach Ernesto Valverde has sent a loan bid with the option to conclude a permanent deal at the end of the season, to Stamford Bridge.

The former Villarreal manager is thought to have firmly concluded that he will try for Kakuta after watching DVDs of the player with Olympiacos defender Francois Modesto.

Kakuta is under contract with Chelsea until 2015 and Dijon remain favourites to eventually secure his signature.
