Swedish striking sensation John Guidetti has given Manchester City notice that he will not be happy sitting on the bench next season after a year spent enjoying regular first team football with Feyenoord.
Guidetti has taken the Eredivisie by storm this season, scoring 18 goals in just 17 Dutch top flight games and becoming only the second player in the league’s history to score three hat-tricks in three consecutive home matches.
The 19-year-old is loving life in Holland and, the man who was handed the number 60 shirt by Manchester City in pre-season – part of the reason he was so keen to exit on loan – is not prepared to warm the bench next to Roberto Mancini next season.
Asked by FC Inter News whether he has thought about his future and whether it will be at Eastlands, Guidetti replied: "No, not yet.
"But the question is very simple: I want to play and if in Manchester they see me as the fourth or fifth choice, then I’d rather go to a club where I can play."
And if he does leave the Citizens, Guidetti, who was signed by Sven-Goran Eriksson for Manchester City, has no favoured destination, with regular first team football his only important aim.
"It does not matter [where I go], what counts for me is to play.
"It would be painful for me to move from a place where I always play, like Feyenoord, to another where I might end up sitting on the bench constantly."
Guidetti is sure to interest a whole host of clubs across Europe if Manchester City deem him surplus to requirements or cannot match his lust for first team action.
