Paris Saint-Germain captain Mamadou Sakho is desperate to play alongside Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

The Ivorian’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer and that fact has not escaped Sakho, who would be delighted if the 34-year-old joined Carlo Ancelotti’s revolution in the French capital.

And with PSG bankrolled by the sovereign wealth fund of Qatar and able to pay eye-watering salaries, that could well be a possibility.

"Yes, I would really like to play with him", said Sakho when asked about lining up alongside Drogba.

"I really appreciate, in view of his career, where he went, the desire he had to move and succeed, what he stands for in Africa and in his country."

Sakho also insists that Drogba having represented PSG’s fierce rivals Marseille would not be a problem.

"He played for Marseille? I forgot about that", joked the defender.

PSG are expected to be in the market for striking reinforcements in the summer as former Chelsea manager Ancelotti aims for the French giants to make a big splash in next season’s Champions League.

Signing Drogba may help that ambition to be realised.
