Roque Santa Cruz has admitted that he would be more than happy to remain at Real Betis next season.
The Paraguayan hitman is on a season-long loan at the Seville-based side from English Premier League giants Manchester City.
And though Santa Cruz is due back at Eastlands upon the conclusion of the current campaign, there appears to be little space within Roberto Mancini’s squad for the former Blackburn Rovers man.
Indeed, Mancini is spoiled for riches in attack, with Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko all able to be called upon.
A stay in Spain for Santa Cruz could then suit all parties and the player, who scored at the weekend in Betis’ 1-1 draw at home with Real Sociedad, would be delighted to remain.
"I’d love to continue", the 30-year-old told Betis’ official radio station, "because I love the fans and the club."
Santa Cruz is likely to have to wait to see whether Betis can retain their La Liga status however before any talks over an extended stay can begin.
