Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that his club have reached an agreement on a new contract for midfielder Paul Pogba – but the Scot is still unsure whether the 19-year-old is going to put pen to paper.
Pogba’s current deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of June and speculation over a move abroad for the Frenchman has been rife.
Serie A has regularly been floated as the most likely destination for the youngster, with Juventus and Inter admirers of his abilities.
Ferguson though has not given up hope of Pogba remaining and, with a fresh contract signed off by the player’s agent, is just waiting for the 19-year-old to sign on the dotted line.
"We’ve agreed a deal with his agent. It’s now down to the boy", Ferguson told MUTV.
"I must stress, he’s going to be a first-team player. There’s no doubt about that.
"The boy has great potential and I think he’s at the right club. But he has to make that decision."
Pogba has made three appearances in this season’s Premier League, though he has featured as a regular in the club’s reserves.
