In-demand AZ Alkmaar starlet Adam Maher has admitted that he is open to a call from a big club.
The young midfielder has been the cause of numerous flights being booked to Holland for scouts of several of Europe’s elite this season, as his promising displays in the AZ engine room have pointed to a very bright future.
And it is the cream of the crop that are interested in Maher, with AC Milan, Barcelona and Manchester City his most persistent suitors.
The 18-year-old is under contract with AZ until 2015 and, having clocked up 34 appearances in the Eredivisie this season as his side challenged for the title, is a key man for the Alkmaar-based outfit.
While further first team football in Holland may be considered highly beneficial for Maher’s development, he is nevertheless listening out for a call from one of the game’s giants.
"If Real Madrid, or another big club were to call, I would certainly think about it", Maher told RTV Noord-Holland.
The midfielder recently picked up the Eredivisie Young Player of the Year award, with Dutch great Johan Cruyff amongst the judges.
It was something that delighted Maher.
"Especially because the judges are former players and, of course, there is the opinion of Johan Cruyff. I attach great value to this prize."
