Liverpool have identified Lyon shot-stopper Hugo Lloris as a potential signing according to Le 10 Sport.
The Reds have kept Lloris under watch for some time but, with the ever dependable Jose Reina between the sticks at Anfield, there has been no need to splash the cash on another accomplished number 1.
Now though Reina is attracting serious interest from Italian giants AC Milan and the Spaniard’s future at Liverpool, who are set to endure another season without Champions League football, is shrouded in mystery.
The Spain international, who is currently with La Roja at Euro 2012, may be tempted by the prospect of joining the Rossoneri and once again playing his football at Europe’s top table.
And so, while Liverpool would love Reina to remain, plans are afoot in the eventuality that the shot-stopper does leave.
This has brought Lloris into Liverpool’s thinking.
Lyon look set to have to sell as many as two top notch performers this summer as they bid to make up a budget shortfall; Les Gones did not qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Lloris is one of the club’s most saleable assets and it is believed an offer of around €15M would be enough to snare the 25-year-old.
The Frenchman performed well for Les Bleus at Euro 2012, although Laurent Blanc’s men could not plot a path past the quarter-finals stage.
