One of Andre Villas-Boas’ first jobs as Tottenham Hotspur manager has been to authorise a bid of €15M for Lyon shot-stopper Hugo Lloris.

According to Le Progres, an offer has landed on Les Gones’ doormat in a sign of how quickly the race is heating up for the 25-year-old following Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas’ admission that Lloris can leave this summer for the right price.

However, despite sources in France initially suggesting that Les Gones would sell the France number 1 for €15M, Spurs offer is believed to be set to be rejected, as the Ligue 1 giants hold out for €20M.

It is a figure Lyon are hopeful of achieving, especially given that Tottenham’s Premier League rivals Arsenal also hold an interest in Lloris.

The goalkeeper did his reputation no harm at all at Euro 2012, looking solid at the tournament – and there was little Lloris could do to prevent France’s exit in the quarter-finals at the hands of Spain.

Lyon need to raise cash this summer after finishing outside the Champions League qualification spots in last season’s Ligue 1.

Lloris is one of the club’s most easily saleable assets, along with Aly Cissokho, Dejan Lovren and Yoann Gourcuff; the goalkeeper should also raise more than selling any outfield player too.

The French giants will be hopeful that a bidding war for the shot-stopper will ensue; there is also interest from elsewhere, with Liverpool mooted to be monitoring the situation in case Jose Reina calls time on his Anfield spell.
