Hugo Lloris has given the green light to Tottenham Hotspur to push ahead with talks to sign him, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

The France number 1 currently turns out for Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, but Les Gones need to raise cash this summer and the club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted that Lloris can leave the Stade Gerland for the right price.

This instantly caused a number of clubs to look closely at bidding for the 25-year-old with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur keen, while Liverpool have placed Lloris on their shortlist in case Jose Reina makes an unexpected exit from Anfield.

It is Spurs though that have waded in with a bid, offering Lyon €15M for Lloris.

This is too low for Aulas, who wants to realise €20M from selling the shot-stopper – a sum which would also rule out any more enforced departures from Les Gones.

Progress though has been made and the signs that a deal can be done are encouraging enough for Lloris to indicate to Spurs that if they can agree a deal with Lyon he will only be too happy to move to White Hart Lane.

A new goalkeeper is a priority this summer for freshly appointed Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas – and Lloris tops the list.

All that remains is the delicate task of agreeing a fee with Lyon.
