Johan Cruyff has joked that Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is "crazy" after the Portuguese claimed he should be known as "The Only One" instead of "The Special One" from now on.

Mourinho believes that his achievement of winning the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga titles, combined with picking up the Champions League with two different clubs (FC Porto and Inter), make him a unique manager – and that should be highlighted in his nickname.

Now Cruyff has waded in, joking that Mourinho is the only person crazy enough to say such a thing about themselves.

"He could not manage to do anything as a footballer, but now he has something to be proud of", joked Cruyff to Spanish daily AS.

"Yes, he is "The Only One", but he’s mostly the only one crazy enough to say such a thing about themselves.

"Mourinho is so crazy that he should be put in a straightjacket."

Cruyff also used the opportunity to, on a more serious note, pass comment on Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, a man he believes is not in tune with the philosophy of the Catalan club.

"The true philosophy is to educate players and not buy players", said Cruyff.

"Rosell and I have a different philosophy.

"I do not think he understands that FC Barcelona are more than a club."
