Nigel de Jong is in Milan to seal a switch to AC Milan from Manchester City.
A delegation from the Rossoneri were in Manchester earlier today to speak to the English champions and thrash out a deal to take De Jong to the San Siro.
Their talks were successful, with the Citizens due to receive between €3.5M and €5M for the 27-year-old; De Jong had just one year remaining on his contract at Eastlands.
Now the Holland international has arrived in Italy to undergo his medical ahead of putting pen to paper on a three-year contract with Massimilano Allegri’s side.
And De Jong is excited about his imminent switch, telling a crowd of journalists at Milan airport that playing in the Milan derby against Inter was a particular attraction.
"I am very happy that I will play for AC Milan", said the former Hamburg man.
"Milan will compete, both in Italy and in Europe", he added.
"I am very happy with this transfer to a fascinating club with a great history.
"Following the Manchester derby, I can now look forward to the Milan derby."
De Jong joined Manchester City in 2009 from Hamburg, with the Citizens paying around £18M for his signature.
