Queens Park Rangers are poised to pull off a transfer coup with the capture of Spanish midfielder Esteban Granero from Real Madrid.
Mark Hughes’ men have agreed a fee with Los Blancos for the 25-year-old, with only personal terms and the passing of a medical standing between the transfer being officially confirmed.
"Queens Park Rangers have reached agreement with Real Madrid for the permanent transfer of midfielder Esteban Granero", announced the Premier League side on their official website.
"The deal is subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical."
Granero has struggled to cement a regular first team spot at the Bernabeu since returning to Real Madrid from Getafe in 2009.
The 25-year-old is a product of Real Madrid’s youth system and was born in the Spanish capital.
He was originally loaned to Getafe in 2007 before the Spanish outfit reached agreement on a permanent deal with Real Madrid.
The deal contained a buy-back clause however, which Real Madrid activated in 2009, bringing back the midfielder for around €4M.
Granero has appeared for Spain at international level from the Under-16s to the Under-21s.
