Liverpool’s interest in Anderlecht midfielder Dennis Praet has been noted after the English club sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old in action at the weekend.

According to Belgian broadcaster RTBF, Liverpool sent representatives to Anderlecht’s Jupiler Pro League clash against Waasland-Beveren, a game Praet’s side won 2-0.

Praet’s stock is gradually rising and he has been identified as one of Belgian football’s brightest young prospects; scouts from Europe’s biggest clubs were increasingly attracted to the starlet after he shone in 2011’s Aegon Future Cup in Amsterdam, where he was voted the tournament’s best player.

Indeed, Anderlecht sporting director Herman Van Holsbeeck has stated his belief that the midfielder will become a key player for the club.

"Dennis has proven that he is good", said Van Holsbeeck.

"He should, in future, become one of the pillars of our team", he added.

The 18-year-old was promoted to Anderlecht’s first team last summer, making his debut in September in the Belgian Cup.

A forward-thinking attacking midfielder, Praet is under contract with Anderlecht until 2015 and is tasting Champions League football with the Belgian giants this season.

Anderlecht are likely to resist any overtures from Liverpool, given that they have earmarked the midfielder to play a key role at the club over the coming years.
