Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has identified Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan as a possible addition either in January or next summer, according to Mercato 365.

The Turkish wide-man has been in superb form for Diego Simeone’s men this season and has helped Atletico Madrid to fight at the top end of La Liga, sitting ahead of fierce rivals Real Madrid in second.

Despite the Europa League winners looking set to be in next season’s Champions League though, barring a catastrophic meltdown, Turan is looking for the Vicente Calderon exit door.

The Turkey international’s agent has confirmed that his client wants a change of scenery, despite only having joined Atletico Madrid in 2011.

Turan would surely be interested in the prospect of joining Arsenal.

His arrival may allow for manager Arsene Wenger to play Theo Walcott in a more central role on a regular basis, with Turan taking the Englishman’s place out wide.

Or the former Galatasaray man could be being eyed as a potential replacement for Walcott, who has still not signed an extension to a contract due to expire next summer.

Turan is under contract with Atletico Madrid until 2015. It is not clear how much they will demand to sell the Turkey international.
