Torino winger Alessio Cerci has revealed that he was 99 per cent sure he was set to join Manchester City, before he landed at the Granata.
The 25-year-old moved to Torino from Fiorentina over the summer, for a fee of €6.5M – but he could easily have ended up swapping La Viola for Manchester City before making the journey to Turin.
And, the former Roma youth product insisted, he was almost completely sure that he would be playing for Roberto Mancini’s men.
"I think about it, yes", he told Sportweek magazine, admitting the failed transfer still plays on his mind.
"Negotiations seemed close. I was told that 99 per cent it was done, then I do not know what happened", continued the Italian.

"I think that I myself deserved it, otherwise they would not have come in for me."
And Cerci admits he has not given up hope of one day having the opportunity to join Manchester City again.
"It is true that in life sometimes lightening strikes twice, but we need to see if it happens as before.
"Manchester would be a challenge."
Cerci has thrown himself into life at Torino despite his disappointment, appearing in 21 of the club’s Serie A games so far this season.
During that time the Italian has scored three goals and provided nine assists.
