David Beckham is still the highest paid player in world football, ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, despite being 37 years old and in the twilight of his career.

According to France Football, Beckham has topped the earning charts for the 2012/13 season, even if relatively little of his income comes from his salary at club level.

This season Beckham has taken home €36M, with the vast bulk of that, €33M, coming from advertising contracts.

This puts him ahead of Barcelona star Messi, who has earned €35M, with €12.5M of that his salary, and the remainder from advertising agreements and sponsorship deals.

Ronaldo comes next in the list, taking home a not too disappointing €30M, of which €13M comes from his Real Madrid salary.

In the coaching world, Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho leads the way, with €14M in earnings, while Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has collected €12M.
