Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has made clear that only someone "crazy" would try to buy Edinson Cavani from his club now that the starting bid for the Uruguayan striker has been set at €70M.
Cavani has been in great form for Napoli this season, scoring 29 goals and notching up five assists in 35 matches for the Serie A side. He is also the current top scorer in the league.
"We have made the starting amount for negotiations very high because we want [Cavani] to stay", De Laurentiis was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur. "But if there’s someone so crazy as to pay €70M euros, then he will go.
"That would mean we would be in profit by more than €60M", the club president added.

De Laurentiis, however, stated that the one who will have a final say on the transfer would be Cavani himself, whom the president states has already warmed to the Napoli fans. "Let’s be clear: The final decision will be from Edinson himself. He is playing for a club where he is happy and respected."
Manchester City have been linked with a move for Cavani as part of manager Roberto Mancini’s plan to revamp the team in light of their recent drop in form in the English Premier League as they struggle to defend their title. The current league champions are currently in second-place, fifteen points adrift of rivals Manchester United.
Meanwhile Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has declared his admiration for the Uruguayan goalscoring machine.
