Lyon manager Remi Garde has called upon his attacking midfielder Yoann Gourcuff to improve quickly and produce more as the Ligue 1 side strive to keep their title hopes alive in the business end of the season.

The French playmaker has had a string of injuries interrupt his playing time with Lyon, starting in only eight of his 11 appearances for the team this season. His scored his only goal in the first match of the season against Rennes. His goal was the eventual winner.

"Gourcuff is a player who needs to be more, who needs to give his club more", Garde told France Football. "I really hope he does soon."

The Lyon manager, however, was quick to acknowledge Gourcuff’s injuries. "He was injured fairly regularly. This hampered [his game]."
