Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to prevent Vitesse hitman Wilfried Bony from joining one of the club’s Premier League rivals in the summer, according to Voetbal International.

Bony is a man in demand and Vitesse have received enquiries from a whole host of Premier League sides. Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, Stoke City, Everton and West Ham have all sounded out the Arnhem-based outfit about the Ivorian’s situation.

Chelsea too hold an interest in Bony, but have not yet decided whether they wish to add him to the books at Stamford Bridge for 2013/14.

They have though concluded that they do not wish Bony to join a club which could rival them for a top four spot, with Arsenal and Liverpool the two most obvious competitors.

Bony was in England yesterday and the striker’s representatives held talks with West Ham over a summer switch.

Chelsea, who have a co-operation agreement with Vitesse which sees the Dutch club receive talents on loan from the Blues, are understood not to view West Ham as rivals and, if they do not move for him themselves, would not try to prevent Bony landing at Upton Park.

The Blues could yet try to negotiate first refusal for Bony.
