Arsenal have suffered a big injury blow with the news that French midfield enforcer Abou Diaby will be sidelined for up to nine months.
Diaby, who has picked up injuries at regular intervals which have interrupted his career, has picked up a serious knee ligament injury.
Now the Gunners will have to make do without the 26-year-old well into the 2013/14 campaign.
"Abou Diaby injured his left knee in training on Wednesday and he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament", Arsenal confirmed in a statement.

"Abou will undergo surgery to repair the injury in the near future."
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger must now plot a route into the Premier League top four this season without Diaby, who also missed the majority of last season with ankle and calf injuries.
Arsenal are also missing key men Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere for Saturday’s clash against lowly Reading.
