Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen is confident the club can secure a long-term contract for in-demand starlet Heung-Min Son.

The South Korean international has been on the radar of a host of clubs as of late, with his performance for Hamburg this season his main selling point. In his 28 league appearances for the club this season, Son has already scored eleven goals – an attacking talent the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are keeping tabs on.

But Hamburg, for their part, insists that there has been no formal offer for the 20-year-old and sporting director Frank Arnesen is certain they can tie the player to a long-term contract soon, with negotiations already going as planned.

"He is just 20 years old and is definitely one of the players we would like to hold on to at all costs", Arnesen was quoted as saying by Calcio Mercato.

"His contract is due to expire in one year, but we haven’t received offers from other clubs anyway.

"We are currently in negotiations with the boy and are doing well with it. I feel we’re close to signing him for the long-term."

Former Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Rafael van der Vaart, now playing at Hamburg, has gone on the record to urge Son to stay with the Bundesliga side.
