Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has cooled talk by the club’s sporting director Leonardo about launching summer swoops for several France stars.

Deal-maker Leonardo identified Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery, Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri and Newcastle schemer Yohan Cabaye as potential future additions for PSG.

The Brazilian explained that he is attracted to the idea of bringing a strong core of French players to the Parc des Princes.

But for Ancelotti, a player’s passport does not come into the final reckoning.

Asked about Leonardo’s views in a press conference ahead of PSG’s Coupe de France clash this evening, Ancelotti said: "I don’t feel that it is mandatory to purchase French players.

"Instead [we should buy the] players that we need to improve our team."

It remains to be seen who PSG target in the forthcoming summer transfer window, but the French giants are thought to once again have a large budget to draw upon.
