Arsene Wenger has revealed that he has heard Alex Song wants to stay at Barcelona this summer, in order to remain at the Catalan giants next season.
Song made the move from Wenger’s Arsenal to the Camp Nou last summer, leaving the Gunners to seek his fortune in Spain alongside Lionel Messi and company.
However, the powerful Cameroon midfielder has been reduced to a bit-part role with the Blaugrana and his cousin Rigobert Song recently explained how unhappy the 25-year-old is.
Song has been linked with making a return to Arsenal – Wenger believes this is unlikely though, as not only did the Gunners not insert a buy-back clause into the deal, but he has heard the midfielder wants to stay at Barcelona.
"There is no buy-back in his contract", Wenger told his club’s official site.

"I heard that he wants to give it a go for another season, which you can understand because it’s the first season", he added.
And the Frenchman backed Song’s talents.
"I think he’s a quality player and sometimes the players have to persist when it doesn’t go well and not change their mind too soon.
"My personal advice for him would be to give it another go and after two seasons he can still make a decision."
