Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has refused to reveal his cards on the subject of acquiring the services of Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has announced that the Poland international will not be extending his contract with the club – a deal that is set to expire in the summer of 2014.

This fuelled speculation that Lewandowski, author of Dortmund’s 31 goals in all competitions this season, may soon leave Signal Iduna Park, with the likes of Manchester United and recently-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich the potential transfer destinations.

But Ferguson has refused to join in the hype, keeping mum on his club’s plans on Lewandowski.

"Bayern [Munich] are strong in that one too aren’t they? We’ll just have to wait and see where we are in terms of if we win the league. Maybe then we’ll view it differently”, the Scotsman told Manchester United’s official site.

“It’s complicated enough as it is with the forwards we have”, he added.

The Red Devils currently have four senior strikers in their squad, with two of them already hitting double figures this season – Robin van Persie with 21 league goals, Wayne Rooney with 12, Javier Hernandez with eight and Danny Welbeck with one.
