Manchester United midfielder and PFA Player of the Year nominee Michael Carrick has lavished praises on his team-mate Ryan Giggs, calling the 39-year-old a “real legend”.

Giggs has been at Manchester United since 1987. He is a member of the “class of ‘92” alongside the likes of Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and David Beckham.

The Welshman’s achievements include a total of 42 accolades, including 12 Premier League winners medals – soon to be 13 when he receives his medal for this season, four FA Cup winners medals and four League Cup winners medals.

“What else is there left to say?" Carrick told the BBC. "It is sensational that he is still able to do that after all this time.”

Carrick also acknowledged Giggs’ discipline in training.

“It is not just physical, it is mental, having the drive and desire to do it every day. Ryan is out there training every day. The standard he has set is unbelievable.

"He is a legend. It is a throwaway comment too often. But he is the legend really. It is a pleasure to play with him and work with him every day."

Giggs, who has never been red-carded throughout his club career, has already made 936 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, scoring 168 goals.
