UEFA president Michel Platini has heaped praise on Ryan Giggs for his loyalty to Manchester United and has admitted his admiration for the Welshman.

The winger joined the Red Devils 1987 and made his league debut for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men against Everton as a 17-year-old in 1991.

"Ryan Giggs is totally different. It’s important to create an identity and it’s important that one guy for one club fights for the colours”, former France captain Platini was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"That is beautiful. I like the people that fight for their colours and don’t change clubs every two months to make business.”

The 39-year-old Giggs has been involved in all Manchester United’s 13 Premier League triumphs. He also made his 1000th senior appearance this season.

He signed a new one-year contract with Manchester United in March, assuring the club of his services for another season.

Platini also stressed that the reason the retired Wales international has never switched clubs is that he is not money-minded.

"He’s a guy who would never change clubs.

"To make business you have to change clubs often. It’s a pity we change, change, change but I know why we change.

"It’s not because to be at better clubs, it’s to have better money."
