Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has admitted that he’s been "dying" to make a return to former club Boca Juniors, but fears the Argentine side won’t be able to afford his transfer fee.

Tevez started his senior career at Boca Juniors, playing professionally at La Bombonera in 2001, having graduated from the club’s youth system. Since then he has played for other teams like Braziian side Corinthians, English clubs Manchester United and West Ham United, before moving on to play at the Etihad Stadium.

But the 29-year-old is now missing his homeland, telling Canal 9, "I’m dying to go back to Boca. My daughter asks me [about] that.

"But today, that seems very difficult. Who will pay for my transfer?"

Tevez then recalled his misunderstanding with manager Roberto Mancini last season – it was alleged the Argentine striker refused to come on as a substitute against Bayern Munich, prompting his suspension. At that time, Manchester City accomodated interest from other clubs, but were only willing to sell the renegade Argentine for no less than €20M.

"When I didn’t play for a long time [following my suspension], Manchester City wanted €20M to sell me to AC Milan, so you can imagine my fee would be higher now that I play more", Tevez explained.

"I guess I can only go back when I’m 33 years old", the 29-year-old striker added.
