Celtic boss Neil Lennon has hailed Sir Alex Ferguson’s resilience, commitment, strength of character, passion, and single-mindedness.

Manchester United manager Ferguson has announced his plans to retire as the club manager at the end of this season, bringing down the curtain on his glorious career at the club, spanning over 26 years.



Joining the floods of tribute being poured for the Scotsman today, Lennon hailed the legacy of the man, which “he now leaves for others to follow”.

“The resilience and commitment he has shown during his period as a manager cannot be underestimated”, the Northern Irish boss told the Hoops’ official site.

“While there were difficult times, his strength of character, passion and single mindedness meant he achieved such great things.

“It is this drive and commitment which has resulted in the legacy he now leaves for others to follow.”

Lennon also paid tribute to the 71-year-old Scotsman saying that Ferguson was the flag-bearer in transforming Manchester United to one of the biggest footballing institutions in the world.

“He has decades of experience as a manager but most importantly he knows how to win.

“He has given Manchester United fans a glorious period of success, bringing trophy after trophy to Old Trafford and making his club one of the biggest footballing institutions in the world.

“I would like to offer Sir Alex my sincere best wishes for the future and wish him well in everything he does”, he added.
