While all the speculation surrounding forward Son Heung-Min points towards a departure from current club Hamburg, the destination may not be as far as many think, as Borussia Dortmund are interested on the South Korean international and have launched a bid.

Son, for his young age of 20, has made an immediate impact with the Rothosen this season, scoring a total 11 goals in 31 league appearances.

And a host of Premier League clubs are keen on securing his potential with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all keeping tabs on the forward. Indeed, the player’s agent, Thies Bliemeister, has admitted that there have already been bids from English clubs.

With Son’s deal with Hamburg about to expire at the end of next season, and as Hamburg announced that they are yet to close a new deal with the South Korean, it has pushed sporting director Frank Arnesen to the conclusion that they will have to sell Son should a contract not be concluded.

And with a whole host of English sides barging in the front door of Hamburg’s Imtech Arena, Dortmund are looking to ease through the side entrance and snatch the 20-year-old forward.

Indeed, according to German daily Bild, Dortmund, with an excess of €37M from the Mario Gotze sale at their disposal, are willing to spend almost half of that money to trigger what is said to be a release clause in Son’s current deal worth €15M.

And within the next two weeks, the immediate future of Son at Hamburg will be decided. If he does not sign a new deal with Hamburg, the South Korean is likely to be sold.
