Christian Eriksen is a better player than both Rafael van der Vaart and Wesley Sneijder were at the same age – that is the opinion of Denmark coach Morten Olsen.
The 21-year-old playmaker is at the centre of an unfolding summer transfer saga, with a contract at current club Ajax due to expire in 2014, and Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool leading the chase for his signature.
Eriksen has seen his readiness to leave the Amsterdam ArenA questioned within Holland, but Olsen has no such doubt, believing his countryman to be more than ready and better than even Van der Vaart or Sneijder were when they were the same age; Sneijder left Ajax at 23, while Van der Vaart departed at 22.
"I think that in many ways Christian is further advanced than Rafael van der Vaart and Wesley Sneijder were at his age", Olsen explained to Danish TV channel TV2.

"Therefore he is ready to join a big club. There is no doubt over the step."
Eriksen has helped Ajax to their third consecutive Dutch Eredivisie title this season, also tasting Champions League football with Frank de Boer’s men over the course of the campaign.
Ajax would love to keep hold of the attacking midfielder, but accept Eriksen is open to leaving this summer if an acceptable offer arrives.
Indeed, coach De Boer has admitted it is not realistic to believe that the playmaker will still be in Amsterdam next season.
