Borussia Dortmund have muscled in on the race against Liverpool to sign Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to Sporten.
The Champions League runners-up are looking at a busy period of spending in the summer – with potential high-profile exits looming – and one of their targets is Danish playmaker Eriksen.
Ajax coach Frank de Boer had indicated earlier this month that he would find it tough to keep hold of Eriksen, with Liverpool also interested in him alongside Merseyside rivals Everton.
The 21-year-old lit up Ajax’s season in the Eredivisie, with their league title helped along by his 10 goals and 17 assists in 33 games.

His season was also marked by impressive displays in the Champions League, as despite Ajax’s exit at the group stage he played all of their games and scored against Manchester City in a 3-1 win.
The issue around Borussia Dortmund’s offer could provide a chance for Liverpool, however, with the German side believed to be only putting up €12m for the player valued at €15m by Ajax.
It promises an interesting negotiation scenario for the Dane, who national coach Morten Olsen claimed is better than what Rafael van der Vaart or Wesley Sneijder were at the same age.
Eriksen has so far made 158 appearances in all competitions for the Amsterdam side, scoring 30 goals, whilst he has been capped 33 times for Denmark.
