Former Aston Villa left-back Jlloyd Samuel has hailed the impact of manager Paul Lambert at Villa Park, adding that the Socttish tactician’s policies at the club could be compared to those of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Lambert was announced manager at Aston Villa on 2nd June of last year to replace sacked boss Alex McLeish. His stay at Villa Park saw the Midlands giants win 16 of their 46 games for the 2012/13 season, including a 4-2 win against Eastlands heavyweights Manchester City in the third round of the League Cup.

And Samuel believes it is Lambert’s faith in the club’s youth players that breeds continued success and stability at the club.

"There seems to be a lot of optimism and rightly so. I think Villa will get better under Paul Lambert", Samuel told the club’s official site.

"I have watched his career as a manager and I have always liked him – the way he brings players through and the type of football he plays. The youth policy looks good.

"Alex Ferguson has proved that if you bring someone through and stick with them, good things can happen", Samuel concluded.

Samuel’s first professional club was Aston Villa, and he stayed with them a total nine years, from 1998 to 2007, making a total 169 league appearances before moving to Bolton Wanderers.
