Chelsea are interested in presenting new manager Jose Mourinho with Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, according to Calcio Mercato.
Mourinho is expected to be confirmed as Chelsea’s boss soon, with his last game in charge of Real Madrid coming later today, when Los Blancos host Osasuna at the Bernabeu in La Liga.
And planning for what the Chelsea squad might look like next season under the Portuguese is believed to have already begun.
De Rossi, who is considered a Roma icon, is thought to be on the club’s wanted list and could be tempted by a move to England.

The 29-year-old was chased repeatedly by Manchester City at points over the last 18 months, but the Citizens’ interest appears to have cooled with the sacking of De Rossi’s countryman Roberto Mancini.
Now Chelsea look the likeliest destination for the Italy international if he does move to play in the English Premier League.
De Rossi has spent his entire career so far with Roma, having graduated from the club’s youth ranks.
