Manchester United first team coach Rene Meulensteen has insisted that he has not left the Red Devils and, as things stand, will be reporting back for duty on 1st July.

Meulensteen has been widely linked with leaving Old Trafford following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson and appointment of David Moyes as his successor.

Moyes has begun to bring in his own backroom staff, while the Scot also takes a hands-on role at training, leaving Meulensteen’s job unclear.

There has also been much talk about the Dutchman taking charge of Wigan Athletic.

But Meulensteen has moved to quell speculation that he has already left Old Trafford.

"As I stands I have to report on 1st July", he told Elf Voetbal.

"I still have a contract with the club.

"I have not said [go] and I have not been fired. I am still employed."
