Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez’s future is set to be revealed within the next few days, despite his agent claiming no negotiations as having taken place with Napoli, widely tipped as a destination.

Gomez has found playing time limited this season, but he still managed 21 league games and scored 11 goals, while an additional brace helped Bayern Munich secure the treble in the DFB Pokal final win over his former club Stuttgart.

There have been weeks of speculation over a possible move to Napoli, while Manchester City and Chelsea are also on the list of suitors.

A €20m deal was believed to have been agreed in principle with Napoli for the forward, who has been touted as a replacement for Edinson Cavani.

However, Gomez’s agent Uli Ferber denied any contact with the Serie A club, telling the Stuttgarter-Zeitung: "We have never negotiated with this club."

Manchester City could become a possible club to employ Gomez, especially with Edin Dzeko reportedly on his way out.

A move to Chelsea, meanwhile, could represent a new direction under Jose Mourinho, appointed this week on a four-year deal.

Ferber is hopeful of resolving the issue quickly, adding: "In the next three or four days things should be made clear in that direction."
